DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Finance Department is responsible for all financial and accounting matters of the Centers’ ten locations throughout the Los Angeles area. There are a wide variety of areas within the Finance department, including treasury, accounting, government grants, tax, contracts, Payroll, and risk management. The Finance Department is a team of hardworking individuals who are committed to provide timely financial reporting, so that the Center can continue to provide much needed services to the community.
JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst will drive financial insights, support strategic decision-making, and ensure financial discipline across the organization. This role will leverage NetSuite financial software and NetSuite Planning and Budgeting (NSPB) to lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes and will participate in a variety of financial and accounting projects, including process evaluation and improvement, and serve as a key resource for system optimization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Financial Planning & Analysis
• Maintain and enhance financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and business cases to support leadership decision-making
• Prepare monthly reporting packages with variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year using NetSuite
• Track, analyze, and report revenue and cost trends with actionable recommendations
• Gather and analyze data from new and existing revenue sources to identify opportunities
• Assist in developing and maintaining cash flow forecasts using NetSuite
Accounting & Reporting
• Partner with the Senior Director of Finance and Accounting to support the close process and ensure P&L accuracy
• Provide accounting support for special projects, including journal entries, invoice reconciliation, trial balance, and account reconciliations
• Contribute to preparation of the statement of functional expenses, NICRA, annual Census reports, overhead worksheet, and overhead reallocations
• Produce and manage board-level reporting packages
Systems & Data Integration
• Serve as internal expert on NetSuite and NSPB, including report creation and budget preparation
• Identify and support opportunities to integrate NetSuite with other platforms such as Salesforce, Epic, and Pioneer
• Collaborate on system interconnection projects to improve financial data flow and accuracy
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with program directors, managers, and staff to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations
• Support Finance team members in shared responsibilities and ongoing projects
• Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people
• A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people
• 6–8 years of work experience or equivalent education in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial analysis ratios and tools
• Self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision and willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary
• Proven ability to analyze, develop, and implement successful solutions to challenges facing the Center
• Proven focus on superior internal and external customer service
• Advanced proficiency in NetSuite financial software and NetSuite Planning and Budgeting (NSPB) including report building and system optimization; advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP), Word, PowerPoint, and database systems
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration statuses, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
