We seek a Lab Analyst with benchwork experience who wants to enhance their skills and be part of our critical mission. Suburban Testing Labs is a division SPL - an innovative environmental and energy testing company that's been successfully operating for over 80 years. Our Lab Analysts do important work that provides high quality, defensible data for our clients. In this role you’ll work in our Inorganics lab using state-of-the-art equipment & instruments to generate analytical data supporting environmental compliance and decision making.

What You Will be Doing

  • Generate analytical data to support environmental compliance and decision making
  • Perform analyses following SOPs based on approved analytical methods using a variety of analytical techniques, equipment & instrumentation
  • Utilize technical knowledge to apply problem-solving skills in a focused area of the lab & execute analyses consistently across a range of analytical techniques
  • Identify & help implement procedural opportunities for time savings
  • Participate in quality events such as audits
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science required
  • Relevant & transferrable job experience in lieu of degree may be considered
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of hands-on job experience in a professional analytical laboratory required (non-academic experience)
  • Experience with IC, SFA, FIA, Gravimetry, and/or BOD preferred but not required
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) as well as other Windows software
  • Must be able to work first shift schedule Monday - Friday from 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM with the ability to support a periodic Sunday rotation and a holiday rotation
  • Due to the on-site nature of this role, applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Reading, PA

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds periodically during each work shift
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 10 pounds constantly
  • Engage in the following movements: Balancing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking,      grasping, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion
  • The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines
  • The incumbent is potentially subject to conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: odors, gases, poor ventilation.
