Air Vehicle Engineer / Analyst- Army Aviation Support

DESCRIPTION: Brown Technologies is seeking an experienced Air Vehicle Engineer / Analyst to support Army aviation airworthiness and acquisition programs. The selected candidate will provide technical and acquisition-support expertise for air vehicle performance, airworthiness, service life, maintenance requirements, and risk management for Army rotorcraft platforms.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide subject matter expertise (SME) on air vehicle performance parameters (e.g., speed, range, fuel efficiency), mass properties, weight & balance, structural parameters, and service life.
  • Develop and maintain airworthiness qualification documentation, including Airworthiness Qualification Plans, Airworthiness Releases, and statements of qualification.
  • Review contractor drawings, analyses, test plans/results, and technical data packages to support airworthiness and maintenance requirements.
  • Conduct hazard analyses, requirements traceability, design reviews, and support risk identification and mitigation for air vehicle configuration changes or upgrades.
  • Interface with the customer, PEO Army Aviation and relevant stakeholders to coordinate airworthiness and acquisition-related actions.
  • Support program acquisition tasks: contribute to Statements of Work (SOWs), Contract Data Requirement Lists (CDRLs), engineering change proposals (ECPs), and maintenance documentation reviews.
  • Support maintenance planning, sustainment, and life-cycle management activities tied to airworthiness and safety compliance.
  • Provide technical support for mission-equipment integration and configuration management as required.

 

Desired Skills / Competencies 

  • Familiarity with Army airworthiness standards (e.g., MIL-HDBK-516, AR 70-62) or similar military airworthiness doctrine.
  • Strong technical writing ability, ability to generate qualification packages, review technical data, and produce reports.
  • Experience with maintenance planning, sustainment, and life-cycle analysis for aircraft systems.
  • Ability to coordinate across engineering, acquisition, test, and sustainment stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of rotorcraft performance, mass properties, loads, structural analysis, and mission-equipment integration.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk-assessment skills.

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Army aviation, rotorcraft, or similar aerospace fields.
  • Demonstrated experience with airworthiness / air vehicle engineering for military rotorcraft or fixed-wing platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience with acquisition-related tasks (e.g., contract reviews, ECPs, maintenance requirements, risk management, configuration management).
  • Ability to analyze technical data, structural and performance metrics, and prepare airworthiness and qualification documentation.
  • U.S. citizenship with active or eligible DoD Secret security clearance.

Reporting & Organizational Context

This role will support Army aviation customers under Brown Technologies’ contract, likely interfacing with the PEO Army Aviation ), or a relevant program offices.  The position will report to Brown Technologies’ Program Manager for aviation support contracts.
