Description

The Sr. Merchandising Analyst performs quantitative, strategic, business analysis and/or reporting to support the merchandising organization by providing fact-based recommendations and performance indicators using data that includes financial, competitive, consumer, industry, and operational insights among others. This role partners closely with merchandising, planning, and marketing teams to drive sales growth, improve profitability, and enhance the customer experience.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze sales, inventory, and market data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
  • Evaluate product performance and recommend changes to assortment, pricing, and placement.
  • Assess the impact of promotions and pricing strategies, providing actionable insights for future campaigns.
  • Support demand forecasting and inventory planning to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize markdowns.
  • Work with merchandising, planning, supply chain, and marketing teams to execute merchandising strategies.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness in merchandising operations.
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional partners in a clear, concise manner.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to inform merchandising decisions

 

Education and Experience:

  • Level of Formal Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 5
  • Type of Experience: Retail experience in merchandising, finance, accounting or marketing
  • Technical Competencies & Information Systems:
    • Microsoft Suite
    • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and data querying (e.g., SQL).
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Experience with retail management systems and ERP platforms is a plus.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
    • Collaborative team player with a proactive approach.
