PD-VEV is tasked with testing and certifying components and vehicles. This position is a hybrid co-located position with primary responsibility for Allen Park Test Laboratories. This role is crucial for maintaining and optimizing a complex lab environment that supports a wide range of research, development, and testing activities. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technology modernization, support, and hands-on custom support for diverse operating systems, a mix of legacy and cutting-edge technologies, infrastructure, and computer room equipment. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying robust, scalable, and high-performance applications. This role requires a strong foundation in backend development, database management, and cloud infrastructure, with a particular focus on modernizing to Postgres, OpenShift, and Google Cloud.



Responsibilities
  • Create efficient, scalable, and well-documented code in various application layers.
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using frameworks like SpringBoot and ASP.NET.
  • Develop and optimize complex database queries and schemas using SQL, with hands-on experience in Postgres.
  • Develop, test, and deploy applications and databases across legacy and modern on-premise Linux servers.
  • Configure and deploy applications to cloud environments, specifically Google Cloud, leveraging OpenShift. 
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD Pipelines.
  • Apply disciplined software development methodologies to ensure timely delivery and high-quality software.
  • Adhere to and promote testing methodologies to ensure code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate closely with Test Engineers and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, ensuring system stability and performance.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • Proficient in SpringBoot and familiar with ASP.NET.
  • Solid experience with SQL and relational databases, particularly Postgres.
  • Proficient in JavaScript for application development.
  • Experience working in Linux environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and consume APIs (RESTful, GraphQL, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, specifically Google Cloud.
  • Experience configuring and deploying applications on Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization (OSV).
  • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, especially Terraform.
  • Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, preferably with Tekton.
  • Deep understanding and practical application of software development and testing methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications (Nice to Have):

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with other cloud providers (AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of message queuing systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
  • Experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
