As a Public Finance Analyst in our Chicago office, you will play a key role in providing investment banking solutions for the complex financing needs of public sector clients. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop financial models, and execute bond transactions that support vital infrastructure and community projects. This is an opportunity to grow your expertise, work with industry leaders, and contribute to meaningful outcomes.

Job responsibilities
  • Develop customized financial models using Excel to structure bond financings
  • Utilize industry-approved third-party programs (DBC) to prepare bond structures
  • Perform credit and debt capacity analyses for specific credits and sectors
  • Prepare responses to requests for proposals as part of the solicitation process
  • Create and manage debt profiles for issuers, evaluate portfolios for refunding/restructuring opportunities, and execute bond financings
  • Collaborate with Public Finance, DCM, syndicate desks, credit origination, and derivatives marketing to pitch municipal clients and execute transactions
  • Prepare presentation materials for client meetings and participate in presentations as required
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask and deliver accurate, detailed materials under tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong work ethic, academic strength, teamwork, communication skills, high energy, and a passion for excellence
  • Undergraduate degree from a competitive university with coursework in finance or economics
  • Previous Public Finance experience at an investment bank or financial advisory firm
  • Experience with DBC software, bond structuring, and transaction execution
