Lead and senior Wireless Core Engineer /Devops

A leading provider of secure connectivity and managed network services is seeking a highly skilled Senior Wireless Core Engineer with strong expertise in 3GPP wireless core technologies, cellular network engineering, and cloud‑native network functions. While this role includes full‑stack and DevOps responsibilities, the primary focus (60%) is on wireless core architecture, network protocols, and large‑scale mobile connectivity systems.

You will drive the design, development, and optimization of mission‑critical wireless core components, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability across 4G and 5G environments. As a senior member of the team, you will also mentor junior engineers and collaborate closely with cross‑functional stakeholders.

 Key Responsibilities (Wireless Core & Networking – 60%)

• 3GPP Cellular Core Engineering: Deep expertise in 4G EPC, 5G NSA, and 5G SA architectures, including containerized network functions (CNFs).
• Wireless Core Protocols & Interfaces: Hands‑on experience with SCTP, GTP, Diameter, SIP, IPsec, and other core signaling and data‑plane protocols.
• Network Engineering: Strong background in enterprise and cloud networking (BGP, SD‑WAN, routing, switching, tunneling, IP networking).
• Core Network Architecture: Lead the design of scalable, cloud‑native wireless core systems including IMS, IPX, and converged mobile core solutions.
• Performance & Reliability: Troubleshoot complex wireless network issues, optimize throughput, latency, and resiliency across distributed environments.
• Containerized Deployments for Core Functions: Build and manage CNFs using Kubernetes, Helm, and custom operators.

 Secondary Responsibilities (Full‑Stack, Cloud & DevOps – 40%)

• Full‑Stack Development: Develop and maintain core‑related applications using Java, Go, C, Python, and modern frameworks.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Architect and operate solutions across AWS, Azure, GCP, VMware, OpenShift, Teleport, Argo CD, and Crossplane.
• DevOps & Automation: Implement CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and automation for predictive operations and continuous delivery.
• Database Engineering: Work with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Couchbase, DynamoDB).
• API & Microservices Development: Build and maintain RESTful APIs supporting wireless core services.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with product, design, and engineering teams while guiding junior developers and SREs.
• Version Control & Artifact Management: Proficient with GitLab and GitHub workflows.

  Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Proven experience in wireless core engineering and full‑stack development
• Strong proficiency in Java, Go, C, Python
• Deep understanding of cloud and hybrid architectures
• Expertise in DevOps practices (CI/CD, IaC, automation)
• Strong database and API development background
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and leadership skills
• Certifications in Kubernetes, Docker, or SRE methodologies

 Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Networking certifications (CCNA, Network+, etc.)
• Experience with 3GPP core platforms (Druid, Ericsson, Mavenir, Expeto, Summa)
• Familiarity with Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions
• Strong Linux networking and system‑level engineering expertise
