Brief Description:
The Director, Payer Analyst will lead the strategic development and execution of payer policy analytics across UBC Patient Access Services business. This role will establish the best practices including the development and management of UBC proprietary payer knowledge. In this role, the leader will dig deep across all programs to understand payer nuances and then ensure best practices are shared across all programs. This role is responsible for reviewing case details, interpreting payer coverage policies, identifying access barriers, and driving data-informed strategies to ensure UBC offers differentiated access services. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, technology forward and data-driven leader with deep expertise in payer dynamics and cross-functional collaboration.
Specific job duties:
- Establish and lead a new working committee for UBC Patient Access Services focused on developing and maintaining payer nuances using a robust suite of digital tools, AI and UBC wide expertise.
- Lead the analysis and interpretation of payer policies across commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid plans for both medical and pharmacy benefits. This includes detailed case reviews and data collection into the UBC proprietary application.
- Develop and maintain a payer policy intelligence framework to monitor changes in coverage criteria, prior authorization requirements, and reimbursement trends.
- Collaborate with internal and client stakeholders (e.g., Market Access, Reimbursement, Analytics, Clinical, and Regulatory teams) to translate payer insights into actionable strategies.
- Serve as the product owner for UBC’s proprietary payer management platform working closely with IT to define the roadmap and enhancements.
- Partner with UBC’s sales and business development team to create sales content, respond to RFPs and present UBC’s differentiated offering.
- Lead the design and implementation of dashboards and reporting tools to track payer policy impact and access metrics from a UBC wide and program specific perspective.
- Represent UBC in client QBRs to discuss payer-related discussions strategic guidance on market access and reimbursement optimization.
- Support training and education initiatives for internal teams on payer policy trends and implications.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Indirect leadership of a team of program specific payer analysts and reimbursement specialist.
Provide mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health policy, public health, pharmacy, or related field; advanced degree (MPH, MBA) preferred.
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in payer policy analysis, market access, or reimbursement strategy within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Deep understanding of U.S. payer landscape, including commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid coverage pathways.
- Demonstrated experience with both medical and pharmacy benefit structures and policy development.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience in technology product ownership including vision setting, requirements definition, participation agile development cycles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
