COBOL PROGRAMMER ANALYST:

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
In this role, you will have a specialty focus on COBOL programming for the HP Non-Stop system. This includes providing support of existing applications written in COBOL, as well as developing new applications, processes, and procedures in COBOL using both legacy and newer methodologies. Additionally, as legacy files are transitioned to SQL tables, you will embed SQL statements into COBOL code, and develop new applications using SQL inside COBOL programs.
To be successful in this position, you will need to have excellent decision-making skills, effective interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to present and discuss technical information to users, business partners, and I.T. team peers.
You will be expected to actively leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, documentation, and problem solving. This includes using AI responsibly to support design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing while adhering to company standards and security requirements.
All work will be planned, tracked, and documented using Azure DevOps. This includes maintaining accurate and up-to-date work items, documentation, and status to ensure transparency, traceability, and effective collaboration across teams.
This position can be an in-house, remote, or hybrid position. Candidates must reside in one of the following states: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas or Washington
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Proven proficiency in COBOL development for the HP NonStop system, with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience supporting and enhancing production systems.
- Experience developing, maintaining, and supporting both online and batch COBOL applications in a business-critical environment.
- Working knowledge of SQL and embedded SQL within COBOL; experience with SQLXpress, HTML, and TMF implementations is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to effectively use AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity, code quality, documentation, analysis, and problem solving, while adhering to company standards, security, and governance requirements.
- Experience using Azure DevOps (or comparable platforms) for work planning, tracking, documentation, and collaboration, with an expectation that work items, technical documentation, and progress are kept accurate, current, and complete.
- Strong documentation skills, including the ability to create and maintain technical, functional, and operational documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze business and system requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and implement changes accurately and efficiently.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to research, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.
- Effective organizational and estimation skills, with a consistent track record of delivering quality work within established timelines.
- Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment, contributing to shared goals while maintaining individual accountability.
- Experience with heavy equipment industry software and business processes is a plus.
Compensation: $100,000+/yr (Depending on Experience)
